Indigo and Henna Powder: The Super-Combo for Natural Hair Dying

Henna and Indigo are one of the organic products you can trust to dye your hair without the harsh effect of chemicals. They also keep your hair healthy.

Pure and organic Henna and Indigo powder, crushed from its leaves, are the two things you need, to achieve beautiful colored hair.

Combining the two will provide you a fantastic look. Be satisfied with hair coloring through the application of both products.

Here are a few ways you can take advantage of Henna and Indigo powder:

Gray-Colored Hair

Gray colored hair is achievable without the use of harmful chemicals.

What you need:

  • 200g Indigo Powder
  • 200g Henna Powder
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Salt
  • Shower cap
  • Paper towel
  • Bowls
  • Spatula for mixing
  • Hand Gloves

  1. Get a container or a bowl and put the 200g of Henna Powder then add the 1 tbsp lemon juice. Mix it.
  2. While stirring add an adequate amount of warm water until it becomes thick, smooth paste in texture. You can adjust the consistency of the mixture with the water.
  3. Leave the mixture overnight
  4. The following morning, stir the mixture once then add 200g of Indigo Powder and a pinch of salt then mix well
  5. The mixture is ready to use.

The Vitamin C content of lemon will help in releasing the dye of Henna for a darker color while salt helps release the color in Indigo.

  1. The dye can stick to your skin so before applying to your hair, apply petroleum jelly to your hairlines and ears and to the back of your neck to prevent it from staining, and wear gloves.
  2. Comb your hair and untangle them.
  3. Then with gloves on your hand, apply the mixture gently to your hair from roots to tips. Make sure you have covered the strand generously.
  4. After masking your hair, get a shower cap to cover your it.
  5. Leave it for 2 hours then rinse off with little warmed water. Do not use hot water as it may cause the color to fade.
  6. Use a mild shampoo then condition.

After you have completed the procedure, you can have it air dry. You can then notice that you got a naturally colored hair.
